I grew up by the sea: Hawaii, San Francisco, and Oregon. Although I live in Colorado now, my heart never left the water. “Fire & Salt” channels that obsession: raw-edge appliqué with hundreds of fabric pieces stitched into crashing waves and foam so dimensional it nearly spills off the quilt.
The sea foam came from a sacrificed tablecloth, the waves required multiple passes on a ten-foot-long arm, and the whole piece thrums with the energy of tides and myth. It’s a tribute to the mystery, danger, and magnetic pull of the ocean, forever wild, forever untamable.
